The Israeli military pounded Beirut's southern suburbs with airstrikes on Tuesday, mounting one of its heaviest daytime attacks yet on the Hezbollah-controlled area after the defence minister ruled out a ceasefire until Israeli goals were met.

The Israeli military carried out at least five airstrikes on the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs of Beirut on Tuesday, after Israel's defence minister ruled out any ceasefire in Lebanon until Israel's goals had been met.

Several large airstrikes hit Beirut’s southern suburbs early Thursday morning, including one on a site adjacent to Lebanon’s only international airport.

Rescue operations were underway after an Israeli airstrike on the village of Almat, Lebanon, north of Beirut, killed at least 23 people and wounded several others, Lebanon’s health ministry said.
