The New York Mets have made it very clear that they're keen on signing Yankees slugger Juan Soto in free agency this offseason. Most within the industry believ

The free-agent market is expected to revolve around Soto. First baseman Pete Alonso, also a Boras client, could become a middle-of-the-order option for the Yankees should Soto sign elsewhere. The Mets, of course, remain in contention to re-sign Alonso.

The New York Post‘s Jon Heyman wrote Monday that Toronto is “viewed by industry sources as a viable obstacle” to the Yankees and Mets. Their ownership wants to spend big and will go big on a star after last season’s fifth-place AL East finish (74-88).
