Georgian lawmakers on Tuesday approved the third and final reading of a law on “family values and the protection of minors” that would impose sweeping curbs on LGBTQ rights.

Just a day after Georgia passed a controversial anti-LGBTQ law, prominent trans woman and TV personality Kesaria Abramidze was brutally murdered in her home, leaving the LGBTQ community in deep mourning.

The Georgian Parliament has passed a controversial law, criticized by the West, that prohibits "LGBT propaganda." The legislation impacts the entire Georgian LGBT community, including individuals undergoing transition and the doctors who assist them.

The measure mirrors similar legislation used in Russia to curb LGBTQ rights and "concerns restricting, in educational institutions and TV broadcasts, the propaganda of same-sex relationships and incest.
