Police in Florida stopped a man for running a red light only to discover he was wanted for a cold-case murder in Virginia that happened more than a decade earlier. Timothy Hickerson, 43, was stopped by authorities on September 17 after running a red light on Old Kings Road in Palm Coast, Florida, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Timothy Hickerson, 43, had been living in Palm Coast since 2022. He was arrested Tuesday in the cold-case murder of Shane Ryan Donahue in Virginia.

A suspect in a 2010 Virginia cold-case murder was arrested in Florida for a traffic violation and will face charges.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said deputies pulled over Timothy Hickerson, 43, of Palm Coast, after noticing him run a red light in his pickup truck. Deputies learned Hickerson had a warrant for his arrest on charges of murder and burglary. The warrant was out of Prince William County in Virginia.

A fugitive from Virginia was apprehended in Florida on Tuesday, September 17, on outstanding warrants for Second Degree Murder and Burglary. After a truck ran a red light, Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies conducted a routine traffic stop on Old Kings Road in Palm Coast.

Timothy Hickerson, 43, was wanted for charges of second degree murder and burglary. He has lived in Palm Coast since 2022.

A traffic violation led to the arrest of the suspected murderer in a 14-year-old cold case after it was reactivated in Virginia, according to Florida deputies.
