President-elect Trump nominated the former chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Jay Clayton, to serve as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.

If confirmed by the Senate, Clayton would lead one of the most important federal prosecutor offices in the country.

The rule change addresses situations in which a firm has ceased to exist, is nonoperational or no longer wishes to remain registered.
