The Beaver Moon, the last supermoon of 2024, will light up the sky from Friday. The big picture: This "extra special" moon "will appear bigger and brighter than usual," per a NASA statement. The exact moment of the supermoon is 4:29 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, November 15, but it will appear to be full from early Thursday morning through just before sunrise on Sunday, according to NASA’s Gordon Johnston.

The last supermoon of the year is arriving Friday. That’s when a full moon happens while it’s at its closest approach to Earth, making the moon brighter and bigger than usual. This moon will also be a Beaver Moon which got its name because November is when beavers prepare for winter by strengthening their dams and storing more food.
