Bloomberg 's Mark Gurman is well known for keeping on top of Apple rumors across the tech spectrum, and the MacBook Air is no different. In a September newsletter, Gurman cites sources close to Apple that have pinned the MacBook Air M4 launch date as coming in Q1 2025.

While the Apple MacBook Pro M4 launched under a week ago, you can already get a $125 discount on it. Should you get one?

The M4's single-core performance is between 14 and 21 percent faster than the M3s in our tests, and tests that use all the CPU cores are usually 20 or 30 percent faster. The GPU is occasionally as much as 33 percent faster than the M3 in our tests, though more often the improvements are in the single or low double digits.

For the average user, it might be wiser to wait for the M4-powered version of the MacBook Air, which is likely to arrive in the coming months

Apple has improved battery life on all M4 MacBook Pro models, and that tells me the M4 MacBook Air should see similar gains.
