Firefighters are battling wildfires from California to New Jersey and New York, hampered by high winds and record-setting dry conditions.

New Jersey has declared a drought warning as dry conditions continue, asking residents to conserve water voluntarily.

The dry conditions are part of a broader drought across the Northeast. Nationally, October was one of the driest months on record.

The Jennings Creek fire is currently burning across 3,500 acres, officials said, and is expected to grow to over 5,000 acres.

The Jennings Creek Fire in New Jersey has burned nearly 4,300 acres. It's about half contained as firefighters have performed controlled burns, getting rid of dry vegetation that could otherwise fuel the blaze.
